Hyundai Nexo takes ‘Alternative Energy Car of the Year’
The Hyundai Nexo has scooped the ‘Alternative Energy Car of the Year’ at a recent ceremony held by GQ Car Awards.
Those organising the award praised Hyundai for ‘boldly going where only a few manufacturers have gone before’, believing that Hydrogen could be a more efficient and practical power source in the automotive industry.
British GQ said, “At present their {Hyundai} NEXO is one of only two hydrogen fuel cell cars available in the UK, and the South Korean company is boldly going where only a few manufacturers have gone before. We intend to support them all the way.”
With everyone placing effort into becoming more environmentally friendly, GQ are proudly supporting Hyundai in their movement to produce more efficient and greener vehicles.
Ashley Andrew of Hyundai Motor UK said, “We are delighted with the recognition for our NEXO Fuel Cell vehicle and hydrogen as an alternative power source, which we believe will be integral to a more sustainable environment going forward.”
The Hyundai Nexo is powered by a hydrogen fuel cell, which powers the battery, which then powers the electric drive motor. One of the main benefits to owners is that the car can be filled with hydrogen at a pump in just a few minutes, similar to conventional fuel. This eliminates the charge time associated with standard electric cars.
Not only is it quicker, it’s also much cheaper to fill your tank with Hydrogen than it is with petrol. One tank is also expected to deliver over 400 miles of range.
The Hyundai Nexo is ideal for both rural and city driving, with a near silent powertrain, a 461litre boot and suspension that has been tuned to deliver comfort.
Inside, you’ve got a 12.3” touchscreen, a 7” digital instrument cluster and heated seats (front and rear outer).
You can also take advantage of Hyundai’s vast range of safety features, including Remote Smart Parking Assist, Lane Keeping Assist, Blind Spot Detection and Autonomous Emergency Braking. These driver assist features are designed to keep you and other road users safe, whilst making it easier to go about your day.
The Smart Electric Tailgate allows you to open the boot even when your hands are full, making it easier to pack your shopping.
